We all made it back from Worth Ranch and have resumed our daily summer lives. We have 2 crews at Philmont the next two weeks but we will still have meetings. This will give some scouts an opportunity to lead and our younger scouts will have a great opportunity to work on advancement. Saturday is Independence Day, a flag day. A number of our regulars are at Philmont so we need all hands to meet at Roger Normans house at 3214 Sweetbriar (he stores the flags). We will set up flags at 07:00 and take down at 19:00. On the flag day please wear Class B with gray troop t-shirt. Call Mr. Turner with questions at 817-239-0166. Patrol fundraising competition has begun! Patrols will compete in aluminum can collection so bring your aluminum cans for weigh-in. The winning patrol will get to eat with the OF for a weekend in the fall. Aquatic School teaches Scouts to teach, to lead, and to be an aquatics program resource for their Troop. The program is designed to develop each Scouts leadership, time management, teaching and presentation skills, as well as aquatics skills. A-School is at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch July 12-18, 2009. Scouts can also earn BSA Lifeguard, BSA Snorkeling, and Rowing, Canoeing, Swimming, and Lifesaving Merit Badges. Many area pools prefer BSA Lifeguard to Red Cross since BSA is much more rigorous training. A-School participants must be registered Scouts at least 13 years of age on or before date of arrival. You must be 14 years old or have completed the 8th grade in order to earn BSA Lifeguard. Participants must complete the BSA swimmers test. If you are inerested, please conact Mr. Duke. Have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day!
