October Campout Anyone attending the campout needs to have their money and permission slip (available online) turned in Tuesday night. There is a Paschal band competition also on Tuesday so if you are not going to be at Scouts, please find a way to get it to your Patrol Leader or APL before then. If you are a PL and cannot be there on Tuesday, please be sure that your APL is prepared to collect everything. Remember we are also loading the trailer Tuesday night so we can leave early on Friday. ** Parent and Scouts please do everything possible to be at the lodge by 6pm on Friday. We want to be ON THE ROAD by 6:30.** We should only have to load food and personal gear on the trailer. We have over a 4 hour drive to get to the camp. Gear we will not be canoeing down the river with our gear. This is a day canoe trip only and we will come back to our base camp once off the river. Patrols should plan on bringing a blue barrel or dry bag to carry lunch for the patrol. Closed toe shoes are *required* for the river. We will be hiking on Sunday so please remember to bring appropriate hiking gear (what you wore in the river the previous day is NOT appropriate). The 10 day forecast shows good weather all weekend, but we all know that could change. Please reread the poop sheet (also available online) to be sure you have the right gear. Fundraising Thanks to everyone that participated in the recent fundraisers. At the TX/ou game, we sold over $12k worth of food and drinks. This will bring in over $600 for the bus improvements and $600+ to offset camp expenses. THIS WEEKEND, while the boys are camping, is our next TCU fundraiser. If you can help, please sign up online or contact Mr. Taylor directly. The game is at 2:30. If you worked last year and have not seen our new stand this year, come out for the day it is huge! Newbies - We will be getting a few new Scouts join from Pack 350 and potentially others in the next four weeks. Please reach out to the new parents you see and make them feel welcome. We will be having a new parents meeting in the beginning of November once we see how many boys bridge over. Notes from Mr. Edmonds Personal Management MB blog is below. Thanks, Mr. Turner Scoutmaster, Troop 17 -------------------------- I hope the chapter we studied on time management and setting goals has begun to help you a bit in your daily lives. Most of you have just finished the first six weeks of school and if you continue to apply the tools of time management listed in the PMMB pamphlet, this school year could be your best! Our next meeting is this coming Tuesday, October 5th, same time same place. We will discuss the first two chapters and the requirements that go along with them. Be prepared! As always bring a copy of your budget for me to review. Thanks, Mr. Edmonds
