T17-Alternate Plans

While we are not having a meeting tonight, something that may be a good alternate for everyone to read up on during this time is the Citizenship in the World merit badge. Yes, this is an Eagle required merit badge but I think the timeliness of the content outweighs our normal desire to have Scouts wait until they are a little older to work on this badge. The requirements can be found online at https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/Merit_Badge_ReqandRes/Citizenship_in_the_World.pdf. There is also a worksheet available at http://usscouts.org/mb/worksheets/Citizenship-in-the-World.pdf which can be used to organize your thoughts and answers. Parents, I would encourage you to work with your Scout on the merit badge to discuss the topics covered and how it applies to our world situation today. This is a great opportunity to have a structured conversation with them. We do have a couple of official merit badge counselors for this merit badge, and they will have to ultimately sign off that your scout has completed the requirements (they did not know I was going to send this out), but this is something that could be done as a family while everyone is at home. As usual, do not hesitate to contact me or any of the other assistant scout masters for assistance. Be safe. Go outside. Wash your hands. Mr. Turner
