I hope that everyone is doing well and that you and your family are healthy and safe at home. Last Tuesday I recommended everyone read up on and work on the Citizenship in the World merit badge. If you have not started on it, I would pass that recommendation on again. You can find the links to the requirements and worksheets in my last email (and still available under Current News on the troop website). I had a couple of parents send me scanned copies of the full merit badge pamphlet that they found online. Those are fine to research on your own but the pamphlet is copyrighted so I cannot post it online on our website. If you need a physical copy, send me a note and we will find one. The Fort Worth Scout Shop is temporarily closed but the Hurst location is open (Monday, Tuesday, and Friday with limited hours). Tuesday, (3/24/20) we will not have our troop meeting but I will post another merit badge recommendation for everyone to work on with their family then. Setting a goal of a merit badge a week may be something that you or your Scouts could do while we are not meeting as a group. Check out https://www.scouting.org/programs/scouts-bsa/advancement-and-awards/merit-badges/ for the full list of badges and requirements. On the troop website, you can find the counselor from our troop by going to http://www.troop17.net/management/page.asp?page=meritbadges. A login for the website is required (email webhelp@troop17.net for login assistance). If you are working on a merit badge on your own, please send scoutmaster@troop17.net an email with the details. For those going to Philmont, see my post at http://www.troop17.net/management/blogreader.asp?b=15 for information on the practice hike today. Be safe. Go outside. Wash your hands. Mr. Turner
