Its a mixed bag of news from Scouts today but this message only has good news! (The Philmont crews already got their bad news.) Longhorn Council approved our Mini Big Adventure plan today! Well publish more details as we have them but the basics are pretty set. Arrival is Wednesday, June 17th after lunch. Pickup is Sunday at noon (that is when classes let out, we may need some pack up time back in camp). We will be camping in the Todd campsite. You will need to provide your own tent. There wont be any tent sharing except for family members. If you need gear, please let us know! Masks will be required at times during the campout. Mr. Rekieta has created our own T17 buff that well have available for sale for $10. Well have them for sale at the troop meeting on Tuesday. Look for last years camp shirt. If you dont have one, we can get one for you for $5. You will also need a plain blank white t-shirt. If you have one with the T17 Super Frog on it already, bring it. If not, well stencil it on at camp. Check your grey T17 class B shirt, well wear that also. You can buy those for a small nominal fee on Tuesday also. One last reminder on clothescheck your sock supply. Well wear scout socks every day so be sure you have several pairs! Cost is $125 for the week ($50 if you are not taking any of the camp merit badges). This is more than half off the typical summer camp cost. Several families are underwriting some of our food costs and the Troop is covering any costs not covered by the fees. We will be eating as a group in our campsite there wont be any mass gatherings of troops at campfires or in the dining halls. We also have some scholarship funds available if you find yourself with a need. We dont want financial challenges to stop a scout from attending camp. Please send me a private note or call me if you need to take advantage of this. In addition to the merit badges offered by the camp, we will also be teaching several merit badges within the Troop. We have several parents lined up to teach them on Thursday and Friday morning. It is not necessary to sign up for those in advance. The staff is also working on several other events throughout the week. Each scout can attend 2 merit badges, one in each session block. For the additional merit badges not in a block yet, we have to have at least 6 people signed up for that merit badge and available in the same block. If you want to add merit badges or swap around, as long as we dont get any class size under 6 and we dont go over the class limit (rifle is currently full), well do our best to make every change. Send me a note with any updates. Were up to 26 scouts attending! Where will you be on June 17th? Thanks, Mr. Turner
