Good Afternoon Scouts and Friends of Troop 17. Sorry for the delayed note, but here is information from Mr. Edmonds: ------------------------ Hey PMMB scouts, We will meet at 6:30 pm (15 min early) this Tuesday, November 2nd. This will allow a few extra minutes for our guest speaker. Please read the section on investing in stocks & bonds. I always bring an expert to speak on this subject, so be on time and be familiar with the material. Thanks, Mr. Edmonds ------------------------ This Saturday is the Worth Ranch work day. We will discuss carpooling arraignments tonight. ANY SCOUTS WORKING AT THIS EVENT WILL EARN SERVICE HOURS. Parents are also strongly encouraged to attend. Next weekend is our Climbing campout at Hermits Cave at Sid Richardson. The poop sheet and permission slip are available on the front page of the site. Please bring your forms and cash tonight. The Troop Committee meeting is this Wednesday at 7:30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. We will be discussing our future fundraising goals and ideas for the next year. Speaking of fundraising...the Troop committee recently approved the following allocations of funds from the last years fundraising events. First off, we have officially paid off our loan for the Troop bus! In addition, we set aside funds for the ongoing repair and maintenance of the bus. For our general fund, we put in approximately $4,500 towards the overall costs of running the Troop. And finally, the committee approved up to $5,000 in funds for "capital improvements" on the Scout Lodge. Mr. Peterson is going to be leading an Architecture Merit Badge class and will have the boys help design the improvements. So far this year, we raised about $2,700 and will be applying half of that to "enhance" the bus and half will go towards long term camping. If you have suggestions for improvements to the lodge or the bus, please send them to me. The treasurers have also determined that we can keep our dues the same as last year. They will be collecting $35 for Scouts and $25 for adults every Tuesday. The deadline to pay dues is November 16th. For those interested in Philmont, a deposit of $250 is due by November 9th. We will also be having a meeting to discuss gear and expectations shortly. If you have not read this information (http://www.troop17.net/docs_public/philmont_risk_advisory.asp), please do so - especially before you turn in any money! If you have not started getting ready physically, you are already behind. This weekends work day will count towards your Philmont service requirements (more on that later). Thanks and wear a raincoat tonight, Mr. Turner
