Please read through the entire message - there are a lot of updates. This Sunday is SCOUT SUNDAY at St. Stephen. Please be at the church at 10:15 AM to setup for the bake sale and to attend the 11:00 AM service. We will walk in together and sit together. Your parents are welcome to attend also. If you have a special neckerchief from the Kandersteg trip last summer, you are welcome to wear it. Wear your standard BSA uniform shirts please. If you wear another neckerchief, please be prepared to talk about where it came from, etc. Items for the bake sale should be ready for sale - wrapped and priced. This is an excellent fundraiser for the Troop! The church ASKED us to do this again this year! Longhorn Council has replenished their supply of Worth Ranch belt buckles and will hold back some for Troop 17. If you are interested in purchasing one before they go to the Worth Ranch store, please email me or Mr. Smith as soon as possible. CPR and Wilderness First Aid Basics courses are being offered by the district in April. CPR is April 29th 6p-10p ($35), wilderness first aid basics is April 30-May 1st 8a-6p both days ($135). They will be in Burleson. Contact Tim Habinack at 817-798-5215 or aggiescouter@charter.net to register. **Both courses are required for at least two adults on each Philmont trek this summer.** (Of course, this is one of our campout weekends! Spring Woodbadge courses are almost full. If you are interested in the premier adult training course and experience, please contact me. The same course material is offered by professional management training firms for $10k+. Cost for scouters - $185! Spring course is only two weekends. There is also a week long summer course offered annually. Dues are overdueif you have not paid your Scout dues, please bring them to the next meeting. $35 for Scouts, $25 for adults. Mrs. Richardson is collecting. Troop 17 OA elections will be held February 8th during the regular troop meeting. Next campout is backpacking at the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge February 18th-20th. Be sure you have your gear lined up now and your boots well broken in. Need help with gear? See any of the Scoutmasters or visit Backwoods (they have an excellent staff and have fitted hundreds of Scout feet and backs for boots and backpacks). All Scouts and adults planning on attending Philmont this number need to have a completed medical form prior to departure. The NEW form can be downloaded via http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/HealthandSafety/ahmr.aspx or picked up in the Scout lodge. Parts A, B, and C will need to be completed. Section D should also be reviewed. This includes a required physical exam from a licensed health care provider. Please be sure to get those doctor visits scheduled soon! THANK YOU to everyone that pledged or donated to Friends of Scouting. I should have the correct total for the Troop in the next day or so. There were several late pledges that werent counted in the number announced Tuesday. Your donations to FOS help fund things like Worth Ranch and other council properties. Rodney Marshall is holding a book drive beginning this Tuesday. Please bring a gently used book to donate to the Troop meeting. See Rodney for more information. Family Life Merit Badge is being led by Mr. Gonzalez. See the Troop website blogs for more information. There are items due on February 1st!
