Hi folks,
Please make sure to read through it all of this important information.
Kandersteg progress to date
The great news is we have raised almost $11,000 to date - way to go! The current trip cost estimate is $3,250 per scout. We will try to get that as low as possible but there are a lot of variables with travel and exchange rates. As a reminder, the trip dates are set July 8-July 16, 2023 and camp sites, tent rentals and food service have all been booked.
August 19 - next Enchiladas Ole dinner fundraiser (mark your calendar)

August 23 - garage sale drop off at 7pm at the Undercroft of the church (mark your calendar)
This is a great chance to clean out those closets and drop off at the scout lodge on Tuesday August 23 at 7pm. Garage sale will take place Saturday October 8, 7:30 AM to 3pm at the Undercroft. (mark your calendar)

4 Steps to do today to prepare for Kandersteg
#1 - Sign up - tell us if your scout is joining the adventure, sign up for the trip is now live on the Troop 17 website at http://www.troop17.net/management/registerV2.asp?e=2127
www.troop17.net
#2- Check passports - make sure you they dont expire anytime near the trip date. There is a local passport office at the downtown post office and general requirements can be found online. Passports for your scout and anyone traveling are not handled by Troop 17.
#3 - Turn in $500 deposit - send a check made out to Troop 17 for $500 deposit, please include your scouts name and Kandersteg on the memo line.
#4 - Chaperone requirements - for those parents who want to be chaperones, you will need to complete training through the BSA website (if you are not already an assistant scoutmaster or troop committee member) myscouting.org by taking the on-line youth protection training course, and either the troop committee training or the assistant scoutmaster training. Once your training is complete you can fill out an adult application through your scoutmaster and pay a $60 registration fee. None of these tasks are onerous but they do take advanced planning to set aside time to register and take the on-line courses.
Any questions about Kandersteg please let me know Ben Isgur (817) 821-5158, want to help with fundraising please let our chair Allyson Gourley know at (817) 602-3777
