Hi folks -
It is time to make travel arrangements to Kandersteg. We have 42 going from Troop 17 between scouts and adults - amazing!
Please fill out the travel survey asap - we need your responses in by Saturday, October 15 (this week) so we can get our final counts to American Airlines and make a deposit. There is a handy FAQ at the bottom of this email that should help with the most common questions.

Kandersteg Travel FAQ
Participants in the group flight must all depart on the same flight to Switzerland (if you cant do that, the group flight will not work for you and you will book on your own) However, for the return flight AA allows individuals to return at a date/time of their choosing as long as it is within 6 days of the group return flight. I read this to mean you can extend your trip on the back end (no longer than 6 days) and still be part of the group flight.
After the troop pays the deposit for the group flight individuals will pay their remaining balances as individuals and you are allowed to use any AA credits that you have for this payment. You cannot use miles to pay for group flights.
Individuals on the group flight can pay for whatever class of service they want (I take this to mean if you want to pay for business or first class you can do so)
After the ticket is purchased, AA said individuals can call back in and try to upgrade their flight (I take this to mean if you have system wide upgrades you can use them to bump up to first after the ticket is purchased)
In addition to the group flight, we are also booking a bus to transport us between the airport and Kandersteg and then back the other way on return. Anyone not with the group travel will need to make their own arrangements getting from airports to Kandersteg and back.
If you have a family member that wants to participate in the group flight to accompany the scouts, we have a spot for that on the form. This would apply to non-registered adults who just want to go up and back but will be doing their own thing during the week in Switzerland
If you are booking your own travel (not participating in group travel with Troop), information about where and when to meet will be forthcoming
If you have a scenario that is more complicated than what this FAQ covers then it probably is too complicated
