Scouts and Scouters,
It has been quite a summer. Despite the heat, we enjoyed a fun week of summer camp at Worth Ranch, traveled to the Swiss Alps for the 100th year of camp at Kandersteg and soaked in the waters of Burgers Lake.
Our first meeting of the fall will take place on Tuesday, August 15th. Please bring a friend and join us as we talk about fun memories from the summer and discuss new opportunities for high adventure in the fall.
It is with much gratitude that I announce my retirement as scoutmaster of Troop 17 on Tuesday. I have enjoyed serving in this role during the past three years and I greatly appreciate all of the support from parents and other adult leaders. Im very proud of our scouts and all that they have accomplished. Its a special group, and I look forward to serving in a support role in the future.
James Lunsford, an Eagle Scout will take on the role of Scoutmaster and brings a wealth of experience as an Eagle Scout and adult leader. He relates well with parents and scouts alike. Please support him in this role as you have done during my tenure. In the words of Mr. Lunsford...
"Thank you for trusting me with the responsibility of guiding Troop 17 as the next Scoutmaster. Previous leaders has left a strong program and brilliant example of a well run troop and I look forward to continue helping the troop down this path.
I was in a similar boy led high adventure scouting program as a youth. My journey to Eagle Scout was an important part of my teenage years and left me with many lessons and morals to help shape my life as an adult. As scoutmaster of troop 17 my hope is that out scouts can have a similar experience to mine and enjoy lasting benefits of scouting throughout their lives.
Thanks again for trusting me with this important responsibility."
James Lunsford
I look forward to seeing all of you at the meeting on Tuesday as we begin the next chapter of Troop 17.
