Troop 17 Recruiting Update posted 06/26/25

Scouts and Parents, Ok, this one is mostly aimed at parents and families of active and former scouts in troop 17.Every year we make an effort to recruit new scouts to join the troop. We dont sponsor a Cub Scout Pack, so we have to work hard to bring in new scouts. The late summer and early fall is our busiest recruiting season with our Burgers Lake event and Schlitterbahn campout. We need your help to spread the word about all the great high adventure programs and opportunities that troop 17 has to offer. Will you please help us in this endeavor? <br><br> Please take the time and reach out to your network in your neighborhood, church, school and community to identify any potential boys that would benefit from scouting and troop 17. We intend to send out an invitation to the Burgers Lake event on August 5th. Please send the name and address of anyone you think would be a good addition to the troop to Jeremy Sweek (jsweek@burgherhaggard.com) so that he may send them an invitation to the event. In order to join the troop, scouts must have attained the age of 11, have finished the 5th grade OR have earned the Arrow of Light award in Webelos. If they are approaching any of these milestones we would love to meet them at our Burgers lake event in August. <br><br> James Lunsford
