March Backpacking update

Scouts and families,
As we get closer to this trip I wanted to provide a couple updates on the preparations. Last night our Senior Patrol Leader David Leaseburg gave a presentation on packing for an overnight backpacking trip. Several scouts may have come home claiming they needed to rush out to REI and get more equipment before this trip in a couple weeks.
While that is certainly an option, it is not required. The troop has an abundant supply of donated backpacking gear we can loan out to scouts who dont have a full setup yet. Next Tuesday we will have volunteer assistant scoutmasters present at the undercroft to facilitate loaning out equipment. If your scout needs a tent, sleeping bag, backpack, or sleeping pad then please bring them at 6:30pm next Tuesday so they have time to try on or test out the loaner equipment before taking it on our trip.
If your scout already has all the required equipment, that is great news! They should still attend our regular meeting next Tuesday as we will have an exciting program for them. There will be backpacking stove demonstrations, cooking practice, and menu sampling of the fine backcountry cuisine we expect to take on our trip.
I look forward to seeing everyone there.
Mr. Lunsford
