After 7 days, 6 nights, over 1200 miles, 450 dirty dishes, 34 Texas county lines, 2 border checkpoints, 3 state parks, 2 national parks, one Scout ranch, and 4 bushels of onions, everyone is home from the road trip...and hopefully rested by now. We had a great trip thanks to the efforts of many people. First off, thanks to our Trip Master, Mr. Taylor. Without his efforts to organize this trip and meals we would have not made it. Thanks also to Mr. Key who not only drove the bus, but also allowed us to take his truck to pull the troop trailer. Mr. Barrett was the OF patrol leader and was instrumental in getting the food for the entire group. Dr. Johnson also attended and was instrumental in keeping things moving. Thanks to all of them. In addition, Mr. Witt, Mr. Roger Smith, and Mr. Rekieta worked for weeks in advance of the trip to coordinate all of the stops and events. Please extend your thanks to all of these gentlemen for their hard work. I think everyone will agree that it was an outstanding trip. Now, back to our normal routine...Tonight is our normal meeting night. We will be discussing the trip as well as some of our plans for the upcoming school year. And finally from Mrs. Fitzgerald to the Moms... Hi Scout Moms! We thought it would be fun for the Troop 17 Scout Moms to get together. We thought we could meet at Panera on University @ 7:30, Tuesday July 24th. We thought it would be fun to meet once a quarter. Dan was kind enough to make us a Scout Mom blog on the Troop 17 web site (www.troop17.net). You can register to receive updates via email when things are posted. To register, first be sure you have an account for the Troop website (click the login button on the front page to register). Once logged in, you can go to the blog and click the green envelope icon to start receiving updates. If you have questions or need anything, please contact us.
