For Juniors or Seniors from Texas A&M...(yes, I am a Longhorn fan but this program could mean $$$ for you) In the past or current year, your troop has had an Eagle Scout registered to attend the Texas A&M University Aggie Eagle Program. Our next Aggie Eagle Program is scheduled for 20-21 September 2013. If you have any Eagle Scouts that might be interested in attending Texas A&M University and participating in the Corps of Cadets, we would appreciate it if you would refer them to us at the website, email address, or phone at the end of this email. The Aggie Eagle Program (AEP) offers high school juniors and seniors and transfer students who are Eagle Scouts, Girl Scout Gold Award, or Stars and Stripes Award recipients a first-hand experience with the Corps of Cadets. Traditionally, the Corps has over 300 members who hold the BSA Eagle Scout rank or the GSUSA Gold Award. AEP recognizes the same traits that motivate a youngster to join scouts also encourage them, as collegians, to join the Corps. While at AEP, students will: Meet current cadets and learn about their experiences in the Corps Stay in the Corps dorms on campus Meet Eagle Scouts in the Corps and from other high schools Learn about the university admissions process, financial aid, scholarships and academic support Train with Corps special units on the obstacle, stamina, and leadership development courses Attend an A&M sporting event A&M vs SMU Football Game Attend a Corps Scholarship presentation program All qualified scouts attending AEP receive at least a $2,400 Corps scholarship, which carries no military obligation and may be used in conjunction with other scholarships. If a Corps Scholarship is awarded to a student who is not a resident of Texas, the recipient in most cases will qualify for in-state tuition. Program cost is only $35 and includes a ticket to the A&M/SMU Football game and scholarship. Parents are welcome to attend portions of the program. An information session is held on Friday afternoon and parents are invited to join their students at the recognition program on Friday night. Students will be housed on campus but parents will need to arrange their own accommodations. For more information, click http://corps.tamu.edu/aggie-eagle-program, contact Lt.
