The canoeing campout went well other than there being very little flow in the river. What a drag! Our next campout is quickly approaching so we must BE PREPARED. Please bring your bike to the meeting tomorrow for an inspection and tune-up. Many retailers including Bicycles, Inc., Performance Bike, Colonels Bicycles, and Fort Worth Cycling and Fitness will adjust and tune your bike for free if you purchsed it from them. Also, please make sure to have a spare tube of the correct size and stem type. Last year we had some mechanical problems and Im sure the staff would rather not repeat them. Look for information from your son(s) coming home regarding ongoing and upcoming fundraisers. Our concessions have gone well but we will continue to raise funds for Kandersteg. Our bulb sales are ongoing. Weve already had one scout take home another pair of cases! Mr. Rekieta is coordinating bulb sales after services at the church on November 8 and bulb sale and bake sale on November 22. From Mr. E regarding PMMB: Happy Halloween to the scouts in my PMMB class! I do hope this e-mail finds everyone relaxed, "in control of your life" and of course, working diligently on requirements 1,2,3,4,5,6,8 & 9. We will meet this coming Tuesday, November 3rd.(WOW! where did Sept. & Oct. go!!) During this meeting we will discuss req.# 7 and have a general review of topics previously discussed. Our last scheduled meeting will be on November the 17th., where we will discuss the last requirement, #10. See you there, Mr. E ps; I hope your budgets are not as scary as your costumes were last Tuesday!! From Dr. Marshall regarding the H1N1 virus (or Swine Flu): We are in the midst of a worldwide epidemic of influenza. We are just now starting to recover from the second onslaught of flu disease over the last several months. Yet, we have not seen the end of the new H1N1 virus in our community. We have seen this virus affect many families and we have seen a few cases of severe disease, including the need for ECMO support. With the arrival of new H1N1 vaccine, we now have the means to control this epidemic. The first vaccine to arrive is the live attenuated vaccine or FluMist form of H1N1 vaccine. Injectable H1N1 flu vaccine will be arriving soon. The new H1N1 vaccine has been tested in adults in the United States and is safe and effective. It is produced in the same way seasonal flu vaccine is produced each year. FluMist is safe and effective for adults. FluMist can be administered to healthy persons ages 2 to 50. However, if you receive FluMist, you should not care for stem cell transplant patients, who are still in protective isolation, for 7 days after vaccination. We need to protect the kids we care for, our community and ourselves. Please talk with your friends, families, and coworkers to encourage them to be immunized. Please review the attached information about the injectable and live attenuated H1N1 vaccines, and the importance of flu vaccination of health care workers. Please do not allow anxiety or misinformation to prevent us from doing our best to care for the kids of north Texas.
