Sorry for the lack of updates over the past couple of weeks - October is a busy month...wait...it isnt October yet! Hold on to your hats folks, its going to be a bumpy ride... THIS WEEKEND, October 4-6 is the Climbing Campout. The poop sheet will be posted tonight. Scouts can go ahead and download a generic permission slip at http://forms.troop17.net/forms/Generic_permission_slip.pdf and have it signed by parents tonight. The cost for the trip $23 ($20 for food and $3 for equipment). Please bring cash to your patrol leader so they can purchase food later this week. Also this weekend is the Worth Ranch Work day - more information on that in a separate note coming soon. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that helped Saturday at the TCU game - in case you missed Mr. Taylors note, we raised $1,450 for the Troop. Half of that money goes towards offsetting long term camping costs for those that participate in the fund raiser. This is an excellent opportunity for the Scouts to "earn their own way" (one of the original ideals of Scouting as developed by Baden Powel). More games in the coming weekends - please be sure to sign up online at www.troop17.net. October 15th at 6:45 pm we will have a Parents Meeting. I would normally call this a new parents meeting, but we have not had one in a while so some of you may not consider yourselves new parents any longer. If you are new to the Troop, or have questions on how we run things, please plan on attending. It will be at St. Stephens in the Fellowship Hall. October 15th at 7:30 pm we will have our Troop Court of Honor. This is our opportunity to recognize the achievements of your Scouts since the Spring. Families are strongly encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served. It will be in the Fellowship Hall (up the hill). Thanks, Mr. Turner
