Thanks to Mr. Bogle, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Key, Mr. Mallison, Mr. Rekieta, and McCaleb for spending the day Saturday working on the Quartermaster room. We made some great progress! Thank you also to everyone that provided baked goods and thanks to the Scouts and families that attended services at St. Stephens Sunday. I had many people approach me and express their appreciation for what we do and for bringing everyone to church on Sunday. Tonight there are several merit badge classes meeting... Citizenship in the Community - Mr. Key will meet with scouts at 6:30 tonight. Family Life - The first Family Life merit badge meeting was held this past Tuesday, where we went over the overall schedule and we discussed requirements 1 & 2. The workbook entry for these requirements is due on February 18th (in your best handwriting). We will not have an official meeting this week. So if you were at that first meeting, you do not have to arrive at the scout lodge early. BUT you will need to bring your chore list (initialed by a parent), to be approved by me sometime during the scout meeting. So please do not forget to bring it. For any scouts who would like to earn this Merit Badge but missed the first meeting, it is not too late. Please be at the Scout Lodge at 7:00 pm (before the scout meeting), so that we can catch you up. - Mr. Peterson Also this week is the Winter Sale at Backwoods - http://www.backwoods.com/. If Santa did not bring you all the gear you wanted, stop by or check them out online. The value at Backwoods is their knowledgeable sales staff...and the discount for Boy Scouts. Let them know you are with the troop and they offer a discount on items on the Philmont gear list (which is most camping related items). Please bring your permission slip and $25 for the campout this weekend. It may be cold this weekend so please pack accordingly. You should also bring your completed rockets to the meeting tonight for a pre-flight inspection. Rocket engines should be turned in to Mr. Rekieta in a Ziploc back with your name on them. Anyone found in possession of an engine during the campout will have it taken up and turned into the T17 Bomb Disposal Unit. Engines will be handed out in the launch area at WR. Tomorrow night is the Troop Committee Meeting at 7:30. It is open to everyone. Make sure that you have February 18th on your calendar as the next Troop Court of Honor. Please invite your family. See you tonight! Mr. Turner
