We had a rocking good time at the Wichita Mountains this past weekend! We spent the day bouldering and scrambling around The Valley of Boulders and hiking through the Charons Garden Wilderness Area. We had a screaming good time listening to the elk all around our campsite. We also met the Scoutmaster of Troop 17...from Moore, Oklahoma! They were there with another troop spending the weekend repelling. We even had a tasty good time watching longhorn cattle graze before we headed over to Meers Restaurant for some longhorn beef burgers! We topped off the event with a trip to the peak of Mt. Scott. It was an outstanding trip with a lot of fun things to do and see. We even had time to do some advancement and Scoutmaster conferences. Next campout is October 10-12th. We will be helping with the Haunted Hayride and Atticus needs an approximate count of how many people will be there Saturday night to staff the various spooky areas around the ride. If you have a preference, let him know right away! For those Scouts wanting to earn the Space Exploration Merit Badge, we will have our first meeting September 23rd at 6:45pm on the back porch of the Scout Lodge. Please bring your merit badge book, pen/pencil and paper to take notes. Remember, this will lead up to you building and flying your rocket on the November Rocketry Campout. See you there!
