Hi to all Troop 17 families, This is the follow up message for the Friends of Scouting (FOS) 2017 Campaign. For our new families unfamiliar with FOS, let me explain how it works and how you can help. Each year the Longhorn Council reaches out to the community for financial help through FOS. We have many big donors both in the private and corporate sectors. However, the Longhorn Council, also reaches out to families for help as well. Our council maintains all of the camps used by our scouts as well as underwrites programs and activities for scouts of all ages. Our troop is most fortunate in resources and volunteers, other units are not as fortunate. By pledging a contribution you will be making a big difference in the lives of all local scouts as well as enriching our own boys Scouting experience. This year the campaign is only one month long and its tied to our recharter. There is a link you can access this year to make your pledge really easy. I have already spoken with friends and alumni of T17, so if you have made a pledge with me over the phone you need not go to the link, I have your pledge recorded and the Longhorn Council will bill you. As always, participation is the key. So please consider making a pledge, even $17 for the year will make a difference.
