We have some great news to report! We have received quotes on airfare to Edinburgh and they are much lower than the $1,900 we budgeted. The lowest of these offers is for $917 (round trip) from American Airlines. We will need to put down deposits to lock in a price next week. This will be a line-in-the-sand of sorts. The troop will be expending non-refundable funds that each participant will be responsible to cover. So with that said, we would like to ask everyone who registered to reply to this email confirming your reservation. If you are interested in providing your own flight arrangements, please email gotoscotland@troop17.net before Thursday, 2/23/17 so we can determine the feasibility of doing that. We have very specific arrival and departure windows and coordinating this on an international trip can be very challenging. This also brings us to one final call for participants. Once we purchase airline tickets, anyone wishing to be added could be at a significantly higher price. If you want to be added to the trip, please email gotoscotland@troop17.net before Thursday, 2/23/17. Our budgetary quote is still $3,000 per person. With fundraising and the potential reduced airline costs, the trip could cost come in under $1,750. The TCU fundraising allocations have been posted online so you can see your credits so far. Troop fundraising will not be allocated until we have our final count of participants. We only have these international trips every 6 or 7 years so there is normally only one chance for your scout to attend one in his career here at T17. If you are on the fence, please feel free to call either of us or any of the other Assistant Scoutmasters to discuss it. Looking at the list of participants, we are going to have a great group of scouts going. We have a few parents going but could always use one or two more if your bank account and work can both accommodate it. Please contact me directly if you have any questions on parents going.
